Events & Calendar
From Friday night lights to spring concerts, Carson High performs year-round. Explore our programs below and check the calendar to catch us in action.

Program Events Overview

Marching Band
Blue Thunder Marching Band kicks off in August and runs through the end of the calendar year. The band performs at most Carson High Senator home football games, delivering the school fight song, stand tunes, the National Anthem, and their competition show at halftime. Throughout the fall, the band competes at events across Northern Nevada, including UNR Band Day and the Sierra Band Crusade. Multiple weekly rehearsals keep our award-winning ensemble sharp and competition-ready.
Pep Band
When marching season ends, the energy continues with Pep Band. This group brings the hype to Carson High home basketball games and occasionally performs at UNR basketball games throughout the winter. It's a great way for students to stay involved without the commitment of additional rehearsals.
Concert Groups
Our concert groups perform throughout the year at seasonal concerts, community events, and festivals like Band-o-Rama each spring. Students can audition for Honor Band, a select regional ensemble that performs in late winter.
Jazz Band
Jazz Band performs at seasonal concerts alongside our other groups, plus exclusive jazz-only showcases throughout the year. Venues include UNR, the Carson City Community Center, and other local stages. It's where improvisation meets performance and students explore swing, bebop, and beyond.
Winter Guard/Drumline
Indoor percussion meets visual artistry. Winter Drumline and Winter Guard rehearse multiple times per week and compete together at events throughout Northern Nevada in the winter and early spring. These programs combine precision, athleticism, and creativity for performances that have to be seen to be believed.
