A Tradition of Excellence

From Northern Nevada championships to the streets of Chicago, our students continue to set the bar for musical performance.

Back-to-Back AA State Champions (2024 & 2025)

The Blue Thunder Marching Band took top honors at the Sierra Band Crusade for two consecutive years, securing the Northern Nevada AA title with record-breaking scores.

National Stage Performers

In 2024, the band was one of a select few invited to perform in the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade, the second-largest Thanksgiving parade in the nation.

Elite Jazz Education Hub

In 2025, the Carson City School District was one of only eight districts nationwide selected for the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Peer-to-Peer Program, bringing world-class artists to work with our students.

A "Sweep" Tradition

In recent competitions, the band hasn't just won first place—they’ve consistently "swept" the caption awards for Outstanding Music, Visual, and Percussion.
